CAMPPAL MT053
I needed a roomy one-person CAR camping tent, and this one met all of my wants. At 5 3/4 pounds I consider it too heavy for backpacking. I am 6 ft 2 in. and 190 pounds. There is plenty of room for me and some of my stuff. I can sit up with a little room left over at the top. I wanted aluminum poles, not plastic. I wanted a simple setup, not a lot of parts and connections. The top 2/3 of the inner tent is mesh, which is great for desert camping under the stars. The rainfly is heavy and appears to be adequate for stormy weather. The enclosed instructions are best used to start your next campfire. However there are a couple of excellent YouTube videos, search for Camppal MT053. Make sure that the pole which is inserted into the RIGHT sleeve (looking from the narrow end of the tent) hooked into the two corners on the LEFT, and that the pole in the LEFT sleeve hooks into the two corners on the RIGHT side of the tent.

Replacement tent
The first time I set this tent up one of the poles snapped. The company reached out and sent a replacement tent.I am delighted with the tent. It was easy to set up and is exactly what I had originally expected.Perfect size and weight for backpacking.

The technical manual writer should be fired, A along with the illustrator!!
I was the chief quality specialist at an electronics corporation. One of my responsibilities, was to write and illustrate complex, electronic customer manuals. The manual that came with this tent, well I guess you could use it to start your campfire with. Putting up the tent itself was a snap. I had mine up in less than five minutes. However, the orientation of the rain fly was nonexistent. In the illustrated instructions, along with any detailed written instructions on how to put the rain fly on.However, When I put my tent up, the weather forecast was just for rain. It turned out to be two days of extreme weather. Including: thunder, lightning, heavy, wind, and drenching rain.So when I woke up this morning to check on the tent, I actually thought it would have blown away. however it was still there, not only that, but it was totally dry on the inside. I was thoroughly impressed! Iâm 6â4â and I still had plenty of room. I would, however, put down a ground sheet just to possibly help keep out some of the moisture. but other than that, I would highly recommend this tent for the money you canât beat it!!

missing pieces
I bought 2 of these tents at the same time for a trip with my daughter. When we did a test set up before the trip 1 tent was missing the guide ropes for staking down the rain fly and the other was missing one of the buckles that attaches the fly to the tent. Both were easy fixes for my hubby, but make sure you purchase with enough time to return if not an easy fix. Will update once we see how it holds up to the trip.

Kept us warm and great for camping trips
I know this says a single person tent, but we kinda made it work for two. It does keep you warm and from the elements, but also being pretty close within each other helps to keep heat in as well. It didnât rain, but we tested it with some water from a bucket and itâs pretty durable and keeps you safe from getting wet. The way itâs designed is good and itâs not difficult to setup (at least for my husband it wasnât, but thatâs why Iâm not the setup person) so far as size itâs for a single person BUT if you really squeezed in it can fit two pretty snugly. Overall it was a good little tent and we felt safe as it was able to protect from the elements.

Best bug out tent on the market
A great gift to a friend. Heavy duty designed for long stays on the trail in Arctic conditions. Reasonably priced for the quality.

Nice one person tent.
I like this tent. I hesitate to agree with the” ultralight” description, but it is also not heavy at all. For a tent with a floor and rainfly, it is very light.Set up is easy – there are only two poles to deal with, and a rainfly. Everything you need to set up the tent is included in a nice small package. It did pass my crucial “get it back in the bag” test. I hate products where it is impossible for a mere mortal to get them back in the carry bag.The ten is well thought out, the rain fly has a flow through vent on either end that props open with a velcro support. This provides airflow through the tent even with all the window flaps zipped shut.Theres a mesh gear loft that fastens to the interior roof of the tent and a small pocket for valuables at one end of the interior. There was plenty of space for me at 5’10” with at least another foot of room to laydown. the interior is wide enough to hold some gear in addition to your pad and sleeping bag.Hunters would be able to have their rifle inside with them. A bow might be a little tricky, but also doable. The sides of the rain fly can be staked out to provide a vestibule for gear or a place to cook over a small stove in the rain. While the tent will work as free-standing, you will want to stake it down with the included stakes – the light weight makes it a great target for the wind to blow it away when empty. The only thing missing would be a ground cloth for under the tent. I’m a firm believer in using them. However, I did not remove any stars for this omission, as it’s pretty typical. If you are looking for a one person tent that is reasonably light, this is a very good choice. I plan to use it for a spike camp when elk hunting this season.
