The ALPS Mountaineering Taurus 5 Outfitter Tent features oversized #10 door zippers and a heavy duty nylon oxford floor. The zippers will give you a lifetime of smooth operation and the oxford floor is about twice the weight of normal nylon floor material, greatly increasing its durability. The poles are made of aircraft alloy 7000 series aluminum that is strong and lightweight. Assembly is really easy with the tent clips that just snap in place over the poles. The polyester fly and oxford floor are urethane coated, with factory sealed seams for maximum weatherproofness. The two doors make getting in and out of the tent much easier. You also get two vestibules (one over each door) that you can use for extra gear storage. The vestibules also serve as automatic guy-out points when the weather gets a little nasty. The fly buckles to the tent, offering a much more secure attachment when compared to elastic cord. Mesh roof vents increase ventilation and improve star gazing. Included: Rain fly, 7000 Series Aluminum Poles, Pole Bag, Stake Bag, 7001 Aluminum Stakes, Guy Rope, Repair Swatches, Gear Loft, Mesh Storage Pockets, and Tent Bag. Good quality and design
Nice features with oversize zippers that should last a long time. I did return this because it was heavier than it was advertised but that’s because Amazons got it wrong not the manufacturer.

A good Car camping Tent
The tent weighs roughly 7lbs so it is great for car camping trips. I worked for a outfitting company up in Northern Minnesota and they supplied these tents for their canoe trips. They worked incredibly well. I have seen them stay dry in thunderstorms and be pretty easy to set up. Like most tents though if you don’t set it up right you will get wet. If you set it up in the wrong location you will get wet too. There is no ground tarp so if you wanted to make extra sure that you are gonna stay dry you can add that in later.I use it as a 1 person tent and there is plenty of room for me and my gear I am 6’2″ and I usually will sleep diagonally in the tent.

Great Products
I love Alps Mountaineering equipment. Very well designed and manufactured. Have their Zephyr backpacking tent, sleeping bag and 3″ mattress too; all great stuff. Highly recommend and worth the slight higher price.

Exeeds expectations
Really Good quality and especially the zippers. More expensive than I realized for a 2 person tent. Obviously you get what you pay for but it should be more balanced. My friend bought a tent for less and holds 12 people and is really easy to setup

Easy to put up
Very well made tent. Easy to put up. Large enough for two or yourself and gear. Like the fact that there are two doors. The zippers are heavy duty and nice and smooth. I bought for backpack camping. The first tent I bought was like a cocoon. And the fiberglass poles broke the second time I used. This tent has aluminum poles and much more larger and heavier material. The only downfall is the weight if your going to use for back packing. It’s 8 Pounds but a well made tent. Should last for many years.

Its ok
After returning from 7 day trip on Colorado river through Grand Canyon with Western River. They used this type of tent.Thats why i ordered the outfitter model. The poles they had were heavier duty, the zippers were heavier duty, flooring was heavier also, and it was roomier. This had me wondering if the model i got from you was the next step down. The color though was exactly what i wanted, but wasn’t the color shown when i ordered. The fly is different as the one they had had an additional pole set up.I’m happy with the price but quality seems a might weak.I will be contacting W R and inquiring as to the exact model they use.
