The Meramac series tents are all free standing 2-pole designs with shock corded fiberglass with aluminum ferrules. The ferrules are the “connectors” that hold the poles together and we use aluminum, rather than steel, because aluminum can never rust. Our fiberglass poles are also normally one size larger than normal to offer you a sturdier, stronger tent. We use lightweight but strong polyester fabrics. The side walls are uncoated so the tent can “breathe” under the urethane coated fly. The fly uses a pole in the top, which gives you an awning over each door for excellent rain protection. Our fly is full length on the sides, not 3/4 length like some others, for better weather protection. We even have our factory seal the seams on the floor and fly for maximum water repellency. Entry and exit are enhanced with 2 doors, which means if you have to get out at night, you don’t need to crawl over the others to get to the only door. The second door is also nice for extra ventilation in hot, muggy weather. Our door zippers are a #8, which is one size larger than most, for extra durability. Mesh storage pockets and a gear loft are included to help you keep your gear organized. If you’re interested in an even heavier oxford floor and larger #10 zippers, you can always check out our Meramac Outfitter Series as another option.

Alps Merimac are best by far for the money
The zippers never fail. Several years of very heavy use. After 5 years the waterproofing is less effective than when new… as expected. Everything is superior & setup is easy quick and solid. Withstood wind gusts that actually nearly flattened & popped right back with no damage. Get one!

Perfect tent for motorcycle camping
I bought this tent specifically for camping from my dual sport motorcycle. Weight and especially size, when packed, are a priority. Im a huge fan of aluminum poles that dont have to pass through fabric sleeves when setting up or taking down. This one uses external “hooks” that snap on the poles and makes set up and take down much quicker. The rain fly attaches and stakes down to offer excellent protection. First weekend included thunderstorms Saturday night and I stayed dry and despite some high winds, everything remained secured. I’ve had scores of different tents over many years. This one works great, packs up small and light and for a fraction of the price of a true back packers tent

Overall, I like this tent for car camping
I can’t stand the tents that have sleeves for the rod’s. This has the clip on snaps instead of sleeves. Doesn’t take a lot of time and/or energy to get this up.I’m tall and it doesn’t bother me navigating at odd angles in order to get changed inside the closed tent. I certainly can’t stand up inside it!Zippers are pretty good so far.The packing bag is actually bigger than needed! Meaning, the other tents I have leave no room for less than perfect factory precision folding.I use a tarp from a freight store instead of purchasing a name brand one.

Missing rain fly pole.
Nice tent. Perfect for me and my 2 large dogs. Upon setting up my tent for the first time when I was camping, I couldn’t figure out how to setup the rainfly. I realized on my second camp trip they did not send the pole for the rain fly. Made me feel a little better knowing I wasn’t a complete idiot. So thats my reason for 3 stars. Other than that. Great tent. Waterproof, I did get some condensation build up inside.

Quality tent.
Just wished it had aluminum poles and stakes. It would be a perfect tent for 1 person. I bought it for motorcycle camping so weight isn’t as critical.
Simon very good Amazon customer service –

Not for outdoor camping
This tent is all there. Just flimsy, and very thin. This is a discount store quality tent that might be worth less than one third price for kids to use in the backyard. Don’t let the price make you think it’s more than that. I did not keep it.

Great tent and so easy to assemble.
This is our second Meramac. They are fantastic tents. Perfect for our kids, and they ventilate so well we take our afternoon naps in these.
