The Meramac series tents are all free standing 2-pole designs with shock corded fiberglass with aluminum ferrules. The ferrules are the “connectors” that hold the poles together and we use aluminum, rather than steel, because aluminum can never rust. Our fiberglass poles are also normally one size larger than normal to offer you a sturdier, stronger tent. We use lightweight but strong polyester fabrics. The side walls are uncoated so the tent can “breathe” under the urethane coated fly. The fly uses a pole in the top, which gives you an awning over each door for excellent rain protection. Our fly is full length on the sides, not 3/4 length like some others, for better weather protection. We even have our factory seal the seams on the floor and fly for maximum water repellency. Entry and exit are enhanced with 2 doors, which means if you have to get out at night, you don’t need to crawl over the others to get to the only door. The second door is also nice for extra ventilation in hot, muggy weather. Our door zippers are a #8, which is one size larger than most, for extra durability. Mesh storage pockets and a gear loft are included to help you keep your gear organized. Good tent, happy camper here.
Just came back from a 3 week trip first time using the this tent. Easy to set up, very spacious specially since is just for me and my 2 dogs. Did well in mild winds but didnât experience rain. Temperatures got in the low 30s and it was cold inside but thatâs expected because of the size. In hindsight I shouldâve brought a smaller tent but wanted to try this one, I run a heater for about 15 minutes before going to bed and experienced no condensation whatsoever. The floor is very slippery though, I always use a ground floor under in all my tents, this one is definitely slippery thus next time Iâll put something on the inside. I read a review talking about a vestibule, this tent doesnât have a vestibule thus donât get it thinking thereâs one, I donât know what they were talking about, that being said thereâs plenty of room to change your clothes inside standing up and I had a cot (65 years old, not sleeping on the ground), gear inside, my dogs are fairly big and there was lots of room. All around Iâm happy with it, the zippers are good quality, seams are taped, rainfly is substantial covering all the areas where rain could come in. I have another Alps Mountaineering tent and other gear so Iâm familiar with the quality of their products and I donât foresee major problems if any.

Solid tent
Just returned fromcamping in Oregon. The tent was great. I can stand up inside easily, and the rain fly shed a light storm perfectly. The footprint also a god fit and function. Only problem is I am a solo camper, and needed a second pair of hands. I goy it up but a bit of a struggle. Especially the fly.It’s a winner.

So great for the rain
Just tested this tent out over the weekend. It was freezing and pouring rain, but we stayed mostly dry! Iâve had a great experience with all their tents (have both a one and two person tent same brand). I was a little worried about the bigger tent staying dry, but it worked great. There was also plenty of air flow with the rain fly. Super easy for one person to put up and take down. Will always be sticking with them!

Almost the perfect tent
Edit: the company has reached out to me!I love the brand because the Alps Mountaineering Meramac tents NEVER EVER leak, and have great ventilation. I had a 4 person that was perfect, just too small. My only complaint is that the rainfly ripped the first time I used this tent. It ripped right where the guy line attaches. The floor and the tent stake bag have holes the first time I used it as well. I always use a heavy duty tarp under my tent and moving blankets inside on the floor. Today is the second time trying to reach out to the company. I hope they respond.

Best dome tent i’ve ever owned
I’ve owned so many tents over the years and the Alps Meramac is the best i’ve had so far. I’ve had it for 5 years now with multiple uses per year. Its been in torrential downpours and has yet to leak. Super easy to set up compared to other dome tent designs.

Floor fabric need to be thicker.
Seem to be a well built tent. 4 stars for the floor fabric being the same as the tent walls. Ideally the floor would have beefed up fabric to handle foot traffic and gear. I will use a tarp under it but Iâm not confidant that the floor will hold up long term.

Solid tent in rain and wind for reasonable price
Bought this tent for multi-day trips in the backcountry, typically on watercraft, where rain and wind is expected. There are 5 of us in the family that use this. Pro’s are that the tent is easy to set up, it does very well in wind if the vestibules are positioned into the wind, has kept us dry in major rainstorms and is a good price for a tent of this quality. We find the gear loft very useful and there’s room for the 5 of us comfortably (4 in a row and one along the bottom), keeping most of our gear in the vestibules. Fitting 6 into this would be very ambitiousCon’s are that the floor is pretty thin. This hasn’t been a problem yet (8+ multiday trips over 2 years) but it’s only a matter of time. Another is that the vestibules aren’t really good for anything but directing the wind and a bit of gear storage. There’s not enough space underneath the vestibules for an adult to change or maneuver when it’s closed. When the vestibules are open, rain falling straight down will also get on the tent itself and through the screened window if it’s open. We are fine with these compromises because our primary considerations were room for 5 of us and being good in the wind. Think that if the vestibule were more roomy it may not do as well in the wind. Have recommended this tent to family.
