The Taurus Outfitter Series has 2 key upgrades: oversized #10 door zippers and a heavy-duty poly oxford floor. The #10 door zippers will give you a lifetime of smooth operation and the oxford floor, which is about twice the weight of normal nylon floor material, will greatly increase the durability of your tent. For poles, we use aircraft alloy 7000 series aluminum that is strong and lightweight. Assembly is really easy with the tent clips that just snap in place over the poles. The polyester fly and oxford floor are urethane coated, with factory-sealed seams for maximum weatherproof. The 2 doors make getting in and out of the tent much easier, especially in the middle of the night when you need to take a quick “break”. You also get 2 vestibules (one over each door) that you can use for extra gear storage. The vestibules also serve as automatic guy-out points when the weather gets a little nasty. The fly buckles to the tent, offering a much more secure attachment when compared to the elastic cord. Mesh roof vents increase ventilation and improve star gazing. Don’t forget to add a footprint to protect your tent floor.

Initial setup and inspection is impressive UPDATE 4/24/2025
Initial setup for inspection prior to using it on a hunting trip, quality looks to be excellent. After extensive shopping and scouring reviews of other options, I kept coming back to this one. Most tents I could find had way more mesh material than I cared for, as I like the ability to fully close up in the event of severe weather and like to have more between me than a mesh body tent and rainfly against the elements. This also adds to ability to retain heat. Tent material looks to be thicker and more durable than most I’ve looked at, and the floor tub is noticeably thick as well. An added bonus are the larger zippers which operate smoothly. This does have 2 mesh panels on top, and the doors have mesh windows that can be closed up, maybe not the best for airflow in warmer climates and it could get a little warmer than one would like fully closed up. Others have suggested replacing the stakes with something more robust, which I have on hand if needed. I think for the purpose I bought this for, mostly for hunting trips, this will be my go to tent from now on based upon my first look and close examination of it. Although a 4 person tent and not of a weight I would suggest for back packing, 2 hunters and gear would have plenty of room to be comfortable, especially with the vestibule storage space. This one fits the bill for what I was looking for and I easily set it up by myself. If this performs in the outdoors less than the 5 stars I give it, I’ll return and add additional comments. UPDATE 4/24/2025 : First night use on a spring turkey hunting trip, we experienced a severe thunderstorm with high winds. It rained very hard off and on all night. Tent was fully staked down with rain fly guyed out and it did not budge in high winds with 40mph gusts. We had zero water intrusion and looked closely for any leaks. A night of rough weather in this tent proved to me the quality and durability of Alps Mountaineering tents. Entirely impressed.

Review of the Alps Mountaineering Taurus 4 Te
I’ve been using the Alps Mountaineering Taurus 4 tent and overall, I’m really impressed with its performance. Setting up and tearing down the tent is a breeze, making it a great choice for both seasoned campers and beginners. The headroom is excellent, providing ample space to move around comfortably inside. The pole setup is straightforward, which adds to the ease of assembly. One of the standout features is the rain fly. It works exceptionally well, covering the entire tent when needed, ensuring you stay dry during wet weather. The guy lines are another highlightâthey’re easily adjustable and hold their position firmly without constant readjustment. However, there are a few areas where the tent could improve. The stakes that come with the tent feel somewhat flimsy, and Iâd recommend considering more robust alternatives if youâre camping in tougher conditions. Additionally, while itâs marketed as a 4-season tent, it didnât retain as much warmth as I expected. Also, the tent definitely requires a footprint that doesnât come with it for optimal protection, which might be a consideration depending on your camping environment.Overall, the Alps Mountaineering Taurus 4 is a solid tent with great features, especially in terms of ease of use and weather protection, though there are a few minor drawbacks to consider.

Great tent for cooler and cold weather.
I purchased this tent to stay warmer in the fall and early winter. As seen in the picture, on the left is my 4 person Cabelas Warthog and on the right is my new Alps Mountaineering 4 person Taurus Outfitter. The mesh venting on the Alps is considerably reduced on this tent. Also, you can zip shut the mesh vented windows on both zippered doors. The two top vents are also smaller than those on my Cabelaâs tent. I used it this past weekend through two nights of hard rain and night temps that dipped down to 34°. Not a single drop of water leakage and even though I use a 0° sleeping bag in the winter, I left it unzipped and I stayed fairly comfortable in tent tent sleeping in just a T-shirt and boxers. The zippers are way heavier than those on the Cabelaâs tent. The tent and fly fabric seems to be the same thickness but the tub floor is heavier. My only negative is that the flap that covers the zippers on the rain fly vestibule doors has a tendency to get stuck in the zipper when opening and closing the zipper. Iâd say that this is a good fall and winter tent but I donât think that I will be using it in the summer. I do feel that it was worth the money.

Fantastic tent.
We purchased ours almost a year ago. Easy to set up, and built tough. We have camped in the fall, summer and spring with no issues using appropriate sleeping systems. We have been rained on 3 times and not a drop inside the tent. One night camping on the beach a thunderstorm rolled up and we had 35 mph gusts. This thing held firm with no issues. Not a drop of water inside. Full disclosure I did buy anchor style sand stakes for that trip. I would reccomend replacing the stakes with tri shape for everyday use. We have both. It is a bit heavy at 10 lbs but i expected that being an outfitter style tent. We split the carry weight between us to help. Had no issues hiking 4 miles in sand through bear island. Zippers have held up, no tears, no broken poles, never a leak. Love the 2 exit points and vestibules. Honestly for the price this is a fantastic tent. Only thing i would say is I think this is barely a 4 person tent. we have had 2 adults. One adult 5’6 165lbs, one adult 5’3″ 140lbs, 1 child 5’2″ 120lbs and 1 child 5’0″ 70lbs. Sleep comfortable in the tent but the ones of us on the far sides were up against the tent wall. I know we are a smaller family but i feel to really be comfortable this is more like 3 person tent. Excellent deal for the price. Would buy again but i cant see this tent failing for a very long time. Just replace your tent stakes with a better aftermarket option.
