I don’t love this skillet
I really want to love this Alva skillet, and for the price I really should. But I donât. I just like it.I like the size and weight of this skillet. Itâs well made and having 11 inches to work with, I can fit a lot of whatever it is Iâm cooking. But because the skillet is not non-stick, there arenât a lot of things I use it for. Iâve tried cooking diced or cubed potatoes but despite using different types of oils (olive, canola, vegetable, etc.), they stick to the skillet every time. Sauteing other vegetables other than potatoes works ok, that is as long as I babysit the skillet the entire time. And cooking any kind of meat only works when I add a sauce to the skillet.Iâve read other glowing reviews and am wondering if Iâm having these challenges primarily because I have a glass top electric range rather than gas. If thatâs the case, then this review is probably more beneficial for glass top owners like me. For you gas range owners, just keep on cookin.â

Cooks well, cleans well but
I have another stainless steel frying pan. Both cook well. Both are solid . This one seems to clean easier. The other one has a flat, very comfortable handle. This one has a curved, not comfortable, handle. This one was a better price. The handle needs to be improved.

Perfect Cooking
Iâve used this pan for everything since I got it. It works perfectly. Itâs nonstick when the perfect temp is met. It cooks evenly. The pan has a heavy bottom which is a good indication of good quality. I would recommend this pan for someone who is ready to ditch the nonstick cancer causing pans. The size is perfect for cooking for one or a family of 3-4.

Nice quality product!
Ever since Covid, weâve been cooking at home more. We used to go out a lot, but have really settled into making our meals and are enjoying trying different recipes. Iâve been wanting to upgrade some of our cookware; we have a thin saucepan that the nonstick coating is starting to roughen up so it was time to toss it. I came across this Alva 11inch Stainless Steel Skillet and it ticked off a lot of what I was looking for.First off, this is awesome. From the heavy riveted solid handle to the nice heft, you know this is a solid pan. The stainless steel is nicely polished with no burrs or rough spots. We had to learn to always use a fat for lubricating the pan (butter, olive oil, canola etc) since there is no nonstick surface, but I feel better for that. Heat transfer is quick with no obvious heat spots, and I like that I can start a dish on our gas stovetop and then put a layer of cheese on top and do a quick broil in the oven. I bought a silicone slide-on handle grip for it so I can use it for on the stovetop, and then slide it off if the pan goes in the oven. For burnt foods we use a soft cleaner, and with a little scrubbing, the pan looks great. If my wife never drinks, otherwise Iâd deglaze some of it during cooking, but not a big deal. The original label with instructions also said that thereâs a 25 year guarantee… Iâm not exactly sure how to verify that, but itâs nice to know the company believes strongly in their product. As long as you donât do dumb things (bang the skillet, shock the pan with temp extremes) it should last for a long time!
