This is a set of stoneware dishes for a service of four. If you have never used stoneware dishes before, you are in for a treat!These dishes arrived beautifully packaged with each dish separated by cardboard and a square of Styrofoam to ensure its safe arrival The packaging is so impressive that I am keeping the entire box intact in the event I ever need to repackage these dishes for a move.These stoneware dishes, in their simplicity, offer a timeless beauty that will never go out of style. Each set, whether you choose the all milky white color, or the set with a variety of muted colors, all have a subtle speckled design. While they are all neutral muted shades, they are far from boring!The plates in this set are wonderful because they are all completely flat. This means that you can plate your food right up to the edge and never have to worry about any of your food or sauces running into each other from a sloped design like most dishes have. The beauty of this design is that no space on the plate gets wasted. This also means that you can be cutting your food right on the edge of your plate without worrying about the plate tipping. If you have ever tried to cut a thick steak that was off to the side of your plate, you know exactly what Iâm talking about! Additionally, the plates all have a slight rim around the edge, so no food will accidentally slide off the plate. The bowls are also flat, which is a nice variation from the usual bowl that is narrow at the bottom and flared at the top. Another nice feature about these dishes is that they stack beautifully on top of each other. This makes storage a breeze as they take up much less space then Your average set of dishes.These dishes are all fully glazed on the top, while keeping the bottoms in their natural unglazed clay state. This means that they are resistant to scratches, chips and stains, as well as not worrying that they will scratch your utensils! The beauty of having an unglazed bottom is you wonât have to worry about your plate accidentally slipping from your hand as youâre carrying it. The unglazed bottom gives you a little bit of texture and roughness to grab onto. If youâve ever carried a full plate that has a glazed bottom, you know how precariously dangerous That can be, and how slippery the plate is.Another beautiful aspect about these dishes are the fact that they are oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe. Having a truly microwavable safe set of dishes is wonderful. The way you can tell if your dish is truly microwavable safe is if you put it in the microwave, Heat your food on it for a while, and can touch your plate without burning your hand! If you take your plate out of the microwave, and your plate is hot, it is NOT microwaveable safe!This set of dishes is a beautiful set, whether you are keeping it to serve everyday casual meals, or plating up an elegant dinner prepared for special guests. In either event, these plates will fit right in. They are equally beautiful to give as a gift to a loved one, or as a housewarming gift, etc. These dishes truly will be a fit for any occasion.
