I love this tent tent! (1p and 2p)
(Update 2019-09-29, for the 1p tent. 2p review is below the line…)Though I fully appreciated the 2p tent, as noted below, I found myself rolling around in it with too much space for one person. I had to wait almost a year for the 1p to become available, but oh am I glad I have it now! This tent is nearly PERFECT. Itâs just exactly the right size, beautifully made, and I get happy every time I look at it. I had bought a different 1p tent, but it was just a tad short and narrow. This tent gives me just enough room to each side, and is long enough that I can fit my 65L backpack above my head and still have room to sleep. Itâs beautifully appointed. The entry zipper works great and never jams, the rainfly is adequately ventilated if set up properly. It sets up in no time at all. The pockets at the corners are much appreciated. And it was very thoughtful to put a small zippered opening on the non entry side to get at those things like your boots you might want to stash under the rainfly on the non-entry side. Love, love, love it!If there just one thing I could ask for, it would be a zipper on the non-entry side of the rainfly so that it can be opened and rolled up like the entry side, and maybe a full entry on both sides. But even as-is itâs as perfect as I ever could expect.P.S. Check out the view I woke up to after a nice bug-free nap with the rain fly removed at the end of the trail my first day. :)======= 2p review from earlier ==========I love this tent. I liked it from the first time I set it up but waited until I got it into the field to write this. First, itâs super easy to set up even with one person. Just lay out the footprint and the tent, extend the poles and put the ends into the eyelets at the corners of the footprint and tent. You donât have to string the poles through anything because the tent easily clips to the poles! Just put the second end of the pole into the opposite corner eyelet, then fasten a clip or two and the tent starts to take shape. Work your way around, fastening the remainder of the clips and viola! Insta-tent. The rain-fly goes over the top and simply ties onto the poles from underneath. Seriously, this tent can be set up in under 5 minutes easily. The floor to ceiling mesh is great IMO. Sure, without the rain fly thereâs no privacy, but you can lay in the tent and feel almost as if youâre outside but without the bugs. I especially appreciated this on my first trip as it was hot, there were no neighbors, and the bugs were atrocious. There was no chance of rain, so slept under the moon and awoke looking up at the trees swaying in the breeze above me. The interior of the tent is roomy. Iâm just shy of 6â and there was plenty of room at the head and foot. It would have been spacious even for two. The mesh pockets are super handy. The zippers work great and donât get constantly stuck in covering flaps like every other tent Iâve seen. If you do have the rain fly on itâs really easy to unhook the flaps from the steaks and easily roll them up and hold them with the thoughtful tie-outs.The only caution is it all seems a bit delicate. That all mesh construction just feels like it could fail under abuse. But, with taking my time and taking caution to carefully stake things down I believe itâs going to last a long time. I did have a problem with one of the tie-outs on the rain fly tearing. Be sure to put the stakes in before attaching the tie-out so as to not over-stress the seam. Hyke and Byke customer service provided a warranty replacement within a few days. I think the tear was just a fluke as everything else is ship-shape. And the excellent customer service more than made up for this little issue. All that to say … treat it as a light-weight piece of backpacking gear and not a military pup-tent and everything will be fine.(BTW, the weigh-out difference for this tent + sleeping pad vs. that of a hammock, straps, tarp, bug-net, underquilt, etc. is negligible. I know, I have weighed them both.)

Quality Tent
I recently put this light weight two person tent to the ultimate test, backpacking with friends ten miles to Deep Lake within the Marble Mountain Wilderness in Northern California. Before the trip I knew we were in for some inclement weather so I purchased this tent to replace an older heavier one. The Hyke and Byke folks followed up with emails to thank me for the purchase and to offer help if needed. If you know your way around tents this one pretty much explains itself as you set it up. Iâm sure itâs just about as easy for someone who is buying their first tent as well.Back out in the wild, the tent withstood a fairly substantial amount of snowfall and by Sunday morning, departure day, I had to pack up as swiftly as possible so I pretty much crammed the tent back in itâs bag without having to be overly careful so I can vouch for itâs durability! There is much to admire about this serviceable tent besides the aforementioned durability: cost, weight, quality, ease of set up and size. If youâre by yourself like I was thereâs tons of room for all of your gear. If itâs a friendly/loving couple using this tent then it will suit your needs just fine too. The two zippered entries come in handy in those situations. Overall I am very pleased with this addition to my backpacking gear and I highly recommend you buy one!

An Excellent Tent For The Price
I took this 1-person tent on a 1 week backpacking trip with my son’s scout troop in summer heat. It performed quite well. It is very easy to setup: stake it out, stick one pole in place, clip inner tent to pole, stick the other pole in place, clip inner tent to it, then put on the fly and clip it in place — done. In wind, tie the fly to the poles using the ties provided with the fly and attach the 4 lines and stake those to give more support to the top and walls.I loved the device they include to drive the stakes into the ground: a simple disk of aluminum. It worked very well and saved me from having to lug around a heavy mallet. My only complaint with the tent is that it could use a bit more ventilation for hot summer nights. There are no “rainproof” vents at the top of the tent. Any ventilation you get when you are closed up for rain comes from between the ground and the fly and the fly covers the tent very well (ie: not a lot of room for airflow there).Size:I am 6 ft tall and I was able to sleep in this tent comfortably with my 80 L pack inside across the tent at my head. It has 2 usable vestibules: the main one by the door could accommodate my 80 L pack, if I needed to, and still let me into the tent. It was a bit tight; but, it worked. There is a smaller vestibule on the other side that is accessible from inside the tent via a good sized zippered access panel (not big enough to enter and exit through but large enough to pass boots or bottles through).Weight:At 4 lbs with everything (fly, inner tent, poles, pegs, and footprint), it is not the lightest single person tent option on the market; but, for the price, the extra pound or 2 did not bother me. To get a lighter tent, you would have to spend 2 or 3 times what this tent costs. It also packs down to a very good size for backpacking. The fly can also be clipped to the footprint allowing you to leave the inner tent at home for a more lightweight option. You can even use the inner tent by itself as a bug shelter.Water Resistance:It kept me and my stuff dry during a couple downpours. The bathtub bottom of the inner tent kept me dry even when the footprint it was sitting on had puddles. It does get condensation under the fly but it never dripped down on me and the all of the tent’s materials dry fairly fast. I ended up packing the fly separate from the rest of the tent to keep the inner tent dry.All-in-all, I’m very happy with this tent and would recommend it.

Really impressed with this. Straight when it arrived the packaging was good, and felt like a professional product.Everything was clearly provided and it was super easy to assemble.Really lightweight and easy to pack down again as well which is always a great bonus, excited to use it on lots of great adventures soon, so far it’s only had a night in the garden but it served us well and is a great tent.
