With Switchback, NEMO has redefined the classic closed-cell foam sleeping pad to deliver more thickness and plush comfort in an industry-leading packed size. This pad features hexagonal nodes molded with our dual-density Axiotomic foam to create Hypnoelastic zones that conform to your body in a perfect balance of comfort and support.
Switchback also leverages a metallized thermal film layer to efficiently reflect heat back to your body. Blend that with 15% more heat-trapping space, and this innovative new design is able to deliver a warmer, more comfortable sleep than other pads in this category.
All NEMO products carry a lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship and materials to the original owner.
Highly-efficient, hexagonal nesting pattern allocates more space for taller, wider nodes, providing significantly greater plushness.
More precise tooling eliminates wasted space between folded layers, enabling taller nodes to nest tighter for a smaller packed size.
Taller nodes create more space for uncompressed sleeping bag insulation, trapping more warmth around your body.
Premium dual-density Axiotomic foam offers a supple layer for comfort and a resilient layer for support.
Metallized thermal reflective film reflects heat back to your body and is protected by a durable film.
Customers say
Customers find the sleeping pad comfortable as an underlayer and appreciate its lightweight closed-cell foam construction. They praise its insulation, with one customer noting it works well in freezing ground temperatures, and consider it a great bargain. The pad is well-made with high-quality foam and folds up perfectly. While customers like the length, they mention it takes up a lot of space and isn’t thick enough for their needs.

Very comfortable
I’ve always used flat pads in the past, but recently I tried this “waffle” design for the first time, using it for a couple of nights. It is MUCH more comfortable. Closed-cell foam can be pretty stiff; the flat pads don’t conform well to my body. The waffle shape yields more to body weight; and it may also be somewhat warmer because of the little air pockets above and below the foam. Recommended!

Loving it
Is an air mattress more comfy yes they are but you know what air mattresses never worked for me due to durability issues 5â 9â 190ibs side sleeper and move around a bit in my sleep Iâm not hard wearing I donât think and take care of my stuff but at end of the day I use pads. I canât tell you what the temp rating is but I can tell you over most other folding pads this one is really comfy and feels but more durable. The thickness and design really helps with uneven or rocky ground which helps protect my sleeping bag. Or great if you need to sleep over at someoneâs house and they donât have a bed for you. I prefer this pad over a comfy couch any day to help explain the comfort. Anyways I donât think I can say much more than that but it does make a difference

Perfect Addition
The only pictures I have are of my Aussie taking advantage of the switchback but both my son and myself have used it on multiple trips. From spring though fall it gets used on it’s own, during the winter I pair it with a Sea to Summit inflatable and I have brought it out well into the teens and slept more than comfortable. Like it’s noted, it is a lightweight closed cell foam pad just thick enough to have some cushion between you and the ground with a heat reflective side that is a perfect addition to a sleep system. Definitely worth it.

Light but takes up space. Not as comfy as air pads. But still better than sleeping on the ground.
Not As comfy as an air pad, but more reliable and durable. It takes up a lot of space however. But it’s light so strapped to the back of my pack it was fine. You can fold it in half of you need extra padding as well. Doubles as a seat too.

Perfect
I use this under the nemor Tensor air pad just to give peace of mind against any popping the air pad and as a back up if it does pop i still got something to sleep on!

Decently comfortable
As far as foam pads go, this one is up there. But at the same time, at the end of the day, there’s a reason inflatable pads are so popular, so you’ve gotta be realistic with comfort expectations. This one is well made, durable, affordable, lightweight, and fairly warm. It’s not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it’s a heck of a lot better than most other foam pads.Neat little trick: I bought a full-size, then cut it down to torso length by removing 4 panels. Two of them got trimmed in half into a square I can use as a sitting pad that can be brought into the tent at night and laid under my legs to augment the torso-length section. The rest was trimmed into a dog bed for when the pup tags along. Three for the price of one =)

multipurpose and great
used this on a 40 mile hike to sit on, lay on during breaks, put under my sleeping pad at night, and lay my things out to organize on it so I didnt just have everything in the dirt… love it!

great cushion
The pattern nests really compact. Probably nemo brand is hype because I dont see this being âthatâ much more compact than others pads in the troop but its still very high quality and very light. Not happy about the straps for it and probably at this price an ultralight sack for it would have been nice but i guess not required.

It works for it’s purpose, to give a layer between you and the ground.

The Nemo Switchback is significantly more comfortable than Thermarest or Exped. I can lie comfortably on my side (70 kg ,175 cm) on the Nemo, not so comfortable on the others. Nemo also folds much tighter than the others â precision engineering. Nemo and Thermarest are warmer than Exped because they have higher profile and they have silver metal on one side. I think they are all tough and will last well. They all work very well in a hammock. For me Nemo is the clear winner on the ground and in the hammock.

Looking forward to using it in the UK, but I think that it will out last me, as I watch Xander on YouTube really putting this pad through a rough time, on rocks and wet and dry canoe trips in Canada.
