A Fantastic Yoga Mat that is Now My Favorite
UPDATE: Iâve been using this 3 – 4 times a week for almost three months. This is still my favorite mat for yoga. The cork mat has held up very well. A couple fellow yogis that tried my mat now own cork mats. I roll the mat with the cork side on the outside. When I unfurl my mat the edges are slightly curled, but since they are curling down the mat flattens when I step on the mat. So far no issues with the cork. I clean it with a slightly damp washcloth using a mild dish soap in water. I still love using this mat in class. I like the firm footing feel without the bounciness of thick foam mats. And I like the cushioning for my joints.Right now I own seven yoga mats ranging from a high end rubber mat, a phtalate-free foldable PVC mat, and various thicknesses of PVC foam mats. I was a bit skeptical of trying a cork mat. Now Iâm a total convert. This cork mat has become my favorite mat after using it in several classes. I was worried the cork would crack with any bending or rolling the mat tightly. Nope, itâs doing fine. Iâll update this review if the cork does begin to crack or break. I was concerned that the cork would be slippery when working on it, especially in a hot Hatha Yoga class. Again I was surprised. The mat grips the floor well. It held my yoga towel firmly in place, no sliding or bunching. And I did some of the more difficult moves when I was hot and sweaty on the bare cork mat. This is one area where the cork mat really shines. It held my feet firmly in place and the grip seemed better when I was hotter and sweatier. The function of the mat I like the most is that the mat provides nice cushioning and at the same time provides a very solid, stable surface, almost like being on the wood floor. One of the reasons I own several thicknesses of mats has been trying to find the right platform on which to work. I have a hearing loss which is caused by inner ear damage in the same inner ear area that helps with balance. I have vey thin mats that are equal to working on the floor as I need a solid platform for balance. Cushioning usually causes my foot to wobble when Iâm doing moves that involve balancing on one foot. I have thicker mats for cushioning when doing Pilates and Barre. At 72 my knee and ankle joints appreciate the cushioning. Somehow this cork mat fulfills both my needs. I can tell thereâs good cushioning as Iâm going through class positions and moves. Yet when Iâm doing moves that require standing on one foot I feel a very solid flat base with no wobble. Care seems simple. The directions say to wipe it down with a gentle soap and water mixture on a cloth, then rinse with just clean water on a cloth. The mat comes with a nice strap to keep it rolled. The mat has various lines and markings to act as a guide for some positions. I usually have a towel on my mat so I donât see the lines. However the lines are there for people that find them helpful. This is in the middle price range for yoga mats. Itâs well below my expensive rubber mat and above my PVC foam $20 Mats. The cork mat, in my opinion, is worth the investment if one can afford it. It has become my âgo toâ mat as it feels the best when Iâm in class.

Perfect for this busy mama
Iâve been using this cork yoga mat for a few weeks now, and Iâm seriously loving it! As a busy mom, finding time for yoga or stretching is already a winâbut having a mat that actually feels good to use makes it even better. The cork surface is super grippy, even when I get a little sweaty, and I love that it’s naturally antimicrobial (because…kids, spills, life). It has a nice cushioned feel without being too thick, so itâs comfy on my joints but still stable for balance poses.Bonus points for being eco-friendly and easy to cleanâjust a quick wipe and it looks good as new. It doesnât slide around on the floor either, which I really appreciate during quick at-home workouts.Whether Iâm doing yoga, stretching during nap time, or just having a quiet moment to breathe, this mat has made that time feel a little more special. Definitely recommend for any mom looking for a quality, no-fuss yoga mat!

First Cork Mat & Not The Last
I’ve owned a lot of yoga mats in the 7-8 years I’ve been practicing. Everything from cheap to high end and in between. But this is the first cork yoga mat I’ve ever owned and I can tell you that it won’t be the last.Let’s start with what I like. The 6mm thickness provides enough cushion for poses like corkscrew where you are really putting a lot of weight on a single point but not overly cushioned to the point where you end up catching your foot or feeling a little extra wobbly during standing balances. The bottom is a nice slip resistant material that doesn’t allow your mat to slide while jumping from down dog to standing or shifting weight. The cork surface itself is very impressive. Upon the first touch, I was skeptical if it would provide adequate grip since it feels pretty smooth. it grips just fine when everything is dry but amazingly, has even better grip when your hands inevitably get wet from sweat deeper into the practice. It seems to be well made and I would anticipate that it will last a good while, but I’ll update if it starts to fall apart prematurely. What I don’t like is a much shorter list as I actually don’t care for the markings on the mat to help with positioning. After years of practice, I found them to be distracting to try and use and ended up just disregarding them quickly. But for someone newer to yoga, I can see them being helpful to align themselves properly. I hesitated to even mention this as a negative since it is such a subjective thing and definitely not a hinderance of any kind. But in all of the things to not like about a mat, this was really the only thing I could speak on.At the current listed price of $65, this is far from the cheapest yoga mat you’ll find out there but also far from the most expensive. And for a cork mat, this is right in line with comparable models. Whether you are just getting into yoga, a confident intermediate like myself, or advanced, you definitely can’t go wrong with this. And if you are just getting into it, make a bigger investment so you feel more obligated to stick with it. As a 220lb former power lifter and current ultra marathoner, I’m probably one of the last people you would ever expect to be passionate about yoga. But the mental and physical benefits are truly amazing and I encourage anyone who has never tried to give it a go for a few months and see if it positively impacts your mental and physical wellness. Because I can guarantee you it will!
