The Sea to Summit Ether Light XT Extreme Cold-Weather Insulated Air Mattress is an extra-thick and extra-warm 4-season sleeping pad for winter backpacking and camping. Its Air Sprung Cell construction mimics a spring mattress, maintaining more body contact area and even dispersion of pressure for restful backcountry slumber. At 4 inches thick, the sleeping pad features a single-layer design with fully-insulated flexible loops, providing a plush, warm sleeping surface. The multi-function reversible valve allows for fast and easy inflation—with the integrated Airstream Pumpsack which inflates the pad in just a few breaths—one-way deflation for quick packup, and fine-tuning of air pressure for a good night’s sleep. The insulated pad features Thermolite insulation which lofts up inside the Air Sprung Cells to prevent convective heat loss to the cold ground, as well as Exkin Platinum reflective fabric which radiates heat back during sleep (R-Value of 6.2—the higher the R-value, the warmer the sleeping pad). Non-slip 30D/40D nylon face fabric is durable and quiet. The Sea to Summit Ether Light XT Extreme Cold-Weather Insulated Air Mattress is available in four sizes: Tapered – Regular measures 72 x 21.5 x 4 inches, packs to 6.9 x 9.4 inches, weighs 1.6 pounds; Tapered – Large measures 78 x 25 x 4 inches, packs to 7.3 x 11 inches, weighs 2.1 pounds; Rectangular – Regular measures 72 x 25 x 4 inches, packs to 7.3 x 11 inches, weighs 2.1 pounds; Rectangular – Large measures 79 x 25 x 4 inches, packs to 7.3 x 11 inches, weighs 2.3 pounds. Includes stuff sack, field repair kit, and PillowLock patches for securing a Sea to Summit pillow to mat. Sea to Summit products are guaranteed against defects in materials or workmanship for the lifetime of the product.

Customers say
Customers find the sleeping pad comfortable, with one mentioning it’s wide enough for side sleeping in the fetal position, and they appreciate its warmth, with one noting it works well in cold conditions. The pad is relatively lightweight and easy to inflate, with customers describing it as thick and sturdy. The fill rate receives mixed feedback – while many say it fills quickly with the included bag, one customer reports it doesn’t stay full all night. Customers find the pad very noisy during use.

Sturdy, durable, practical, and comfortable
Highly recommended for anyone because itâs long and wide enough to side sleep in the fetal position without your hips falling off pad. Easy to inflate and deflate, small package to carry on a backpack, easy to dust off and clean after sleeping on the ground. It held up to the extremely cold temperature I had to sleep in. I used it with my own extreme cold down sleeping bag and I was very comfortable. I got it on sale, but if I paid full price itâs worth every penny.

Super comfortable and warm
This is the most comfortable blow-up sleeping pad I’ve ever used. I alternate between back sleeping and side sleeping, and it’s very comfortable for both. Plus it kept me warm from the ground on a 29°F night. (Haven’t tested it colder yet.)
Critter Man –
Very comfortable.
This is the most comfortable pad in this R-value range, arms do not fall asleep like with horizontal baffles. No issues, no complaints. Anyone who says they got cold on this pad did not follow instructions. This pad must be fully inflated and firm to get the full R-value. Battery pumps do not fully fill pads, so as full as your pump got it is not full enough. Finish with the included pump sack to get it firm without introducing moisture. If you can’t sleep comfortably on a firm pad, consider other models.

Very comfortable
Very comfortable at four inches thick, even though not the warmest and lightest like the thermarest Neo air Xtherm. I was hoping they would have the rectangular version with the temperature rating of the women’s version temperature rating, which is a tapered sleeping pad, however the temperature rating of this pad is slightly lower. Not a fan of tapered sleeping pads as they are too narrow and I roll off easily. Another thing I dislike about this pad is that, it is very noisy when you are turning on it. I purchased a sea to summit Aeros Ultralight regular pillow and it is punctured and I used the 3m included patch kit for the sleeping bag to patch it and it still keeps deflating, so that was a waste of $40.00 and it was not the most comfortable pillow,as it keeps sliding around and has no back straps to hold it still in place on the pad. The pillow lock feature on the back of the pillow doesn’t work well either, so I will be returning it.

Kept me comfortable and dry
I just took this mattress on hike up Kilimanjaro (Jan 2025). I’m in love with it. Easy to inflate. Kept me up of the ground with no leakage of air. Easy to fall to sleep on. I highly recommend it.

Super warm
I gave it four stars because I wish it was a little wider in the elbows. That’s my only complaint. It fills up fast with the fill bag they provide and it’s easy to roll up afterwards. It’s very very warm to the point where I ended up using my sleeping bag as a blanket in 17 degree weather in Montana. It’s best if you sleep on your back or your stomach but it still kept me off the ground on my side. It’s comfortable aside from my elbows being on the ground.

Warm but too expensive given the issue
First review Iâm ever doing on a product. This sleeping pad is very warm and excellent for side sleeping. As when itâs fully aired up my hip isnât close to touching the ground(I weigh 195 pounds). I also purchased the larger version which after receiving the product was not necessary. I am 6â1â and had a couple inches extra at my head and toes. The issue I had with this product is that it would lose all of its air within a couple hours. After getting back from my backpacking trip I covered the whole thing in soapy water and finally found the pinhole located in the âcenterâ of one of the squares. Which is obviously a manufacturer defect as one itâs in the lowest spot on the pad. Two itâs on the top side not the side that touches the ground. And three I was extra cautious about leaving nothing in my pockets and slowing applying my weight across the entirety of the pad. So after it deflating all night and having to refill it because otherwise it would get very cold. At the price it came at it is just way to expensive to arrive with a pinhole already in it.Otherwise itâs a good product.

This is my full winter mattress, which I combine with an Isuka air dry 860, liner, and Nemo Switchback mat. Itâs a very warm combination, even on snow, and I can sleep quite comfortably. The mattress doesn’t make a lot of noise, is easy to inflate and deflate. It packs up efficiently but is a little bit bulky in the rucksack. Itâs worth carrying though for the comfort it gives.
