A Clean Mat for a Clear Mind
Our organic cotton is perfect for all yoga styles and promises longevity beyond synthetics
How did we get our start?
We shifted from producing India’s top cotton rugs to yoga mats. U.S. brands eyed us for private labels, but by 2010, we chose to stand tall with our distinct brand.
What makes our products unique?
All Yogasana mats are handmade in India near the ancient city of Banaras, the birthplace of yoga.
Why do we love what we do?
We’re passionate about enhancing your yoga journey and enriching the lives of our artisans and their families.

Wonderful New Mat
I finally splurged and am very happy I did; this is a nice mat with a great feel and looks like it will last for many years. As others have noted, I had to adjust some movements to avoid sliding quickly across the surface (ouch!), but that same texture keeps me from slipping even when sweaty and gives the mat a nice durable feel. Love the color and the variation–gives me a different meditative experience each time I use it. Width is average, maybe a little wider than an average mat, but length provides extra room, which is perfect because my dog usually joins me. On the pricey side, but I would still recommend. I love it so far.

Yogasana Mats
I just love having this mat for my daily practice. It is perfect for many types of personal fitness. The handmade texture is woven to perfection. The natural ridges of the weave help me to experience a deeper connection to the peace and harmony within. The color “Water” is calming and balancing to my spirit as it the varying hues of blue transform the environment with peace. If you do Yoga, Qigong or any type of fitness that requires a mat, this is the one to have. Cleaning it is so simple, just machine wash and air dry for complete freshness, the size and color never change. There is nothing fake about this mat that is produced with such great ethical fair trade standards.

Wonderful mat
This mat is absolutely beautiful and everything I hoped it would be. Not too soft, not too hard — it’s comfortable for my long restoratives but I can also do crow pose on it and keep my balance during sun salutations. It looks so great that I feel OK with leaving it unrolled in my living room. I love that it’s completely handmade and the brown color suits me perfectly (vata dosha). Check out the video on their website that explains the effects of the different colors.I’m attaching a picture but it doesn’t do it justice. It looks different in different lights and even in different poses. Not sure I’d recommend it for a beginner to learn on and it wouldn’t be right for someone that needs a lot of padding. Though I think it would work fine to place it on top of another mat.

So pretty and soft, but kinda slippery
It looks and feels great. Others reported weird smells or dye issues, mine had none of those. The size is great as well.Anti slip? Meh, not so much. Iâm hoping after a few washes it gets less slippery. Itâs fine for warrior/triangle kinds of poses, but not great for down dog. I bought it for home use, where I do more yin yoga and Pilates style exercises. I have a space where I leave my mat out pretty much all the time, and I love how pretty this one is and that itâs machine washable. Iâll still be bringing a regular mat to vinyasa classes.

absolutely love it
Grateful for this yoga rug. Itâs beautifully crafted, I donât slip at all, and have been able to comfortably use it on my studioâs wood floors without anything underneath. Itâs light to carry and a good length. There was a slight odor upon opening but I washed it on gentle, hung it to dry, and it was gone. Iâve washed it a few times now and itâs holding up perfectly. I feel like I will happily practice on this rug for many years.

Be Careful About the Color Running
My mat needed to be washed three times before it could be used due to the purple dye running. If you get this one, I strongly recommended reading up on how to stop colors from running with cotton items. Since I purchased it, I have learned this is a common issue with cotton mats. The mat is not soft but it gets better with each wash. Other reviews thought this was a negative but I was neutral on it. If you want a softer mat, I recommending getting a rubber mat.The quality of the stitching is ok.The thickness of the mat is perfect. The description states it is thick but I would consider it medium. The color is very good. Even after the dye ran on the first two washes, I still liked the purple color. On a wooden floor, the mat can move significantly depending on the yoga class. I am going to try spraying the bottom of the mat with a little water to get better traction. Outside, the mat works much better.I am not sure whether I would buy this mat or any cotton mat again due to the lack of grip on a wooden floor.

Beautiful mat for outdoor practice!
I love this mat for outdoor practice! Itâs nicely made and the colors are lovely. I like to spritz it with a bit of water infused with essential oils to make it a more grippy. If your palms sweat naturally thatâs not needed. The sun does not damage the mat like it does with rubber mats. And a good shake is all you need to clean it off. Iâll be taking it to the beach with me this summer. Itâs also very nice for a yin and/or restorative practice. Iâm so pleased to have added a yogasana cotton mat to my collection of yoga necessities. Iâll be putting it to use and will report on how it washes once itâs required I do so. Namasteð

Texture too rough
Color is perfect! Size was nice until washing in cold gentle and line dry. Shrunk a lot in width. Texture is very rough. After using about 5 weeks developed rough patches on my knees from hard rough texture of yoga rug. Do not recommend.
